The Furniture Mine

Furniture MineThe Furniture Mine, through a variety of methods, re-distributes good quality furniture from those who have and no longer need it to those who need it but don't have it.

It is our belief:

  • That a home is more than a brick shell so each item of furniture we supply will help our clients turn their house into a home.
  • As the furniture we supply is donated by members of the public, we are pleased to recognise the fact that every item is as individual as you are.
  • This also reflects the individuality of every client and member of the team.

Wesley Community Furniture Limited

Wesley Community furniture Limited

Wesley Community Furniture Ltd presently consists of the main shop/office, a second smaller shop, a warehouse, a fleet of four vans, four paid staff, and our invaluable team of 15+ volunteers and trainees.

We collect donations of household items from the public from all over the Manchester area and into north Cheshire, which we sort, repair if necessary and viable, store, sell at minimal cost and deliver to off street or referred clients.

Our aim is to work in partnership with others to provide furniture and other household items at the lowest prices to those in need , to further relive poverty by providing jobs, volunteering and training opportunities, and to re-cycle and re-use as much of the material we receive as possible.

How we help:

H came to us last year as someone in really dire circumstances. He and his family had had to flee Kenya, and arrived in the Uk with next to nothing, and were denied state assistance. We were able to sort them out with a furniture pack and , subsequently, other items. Having been given the right to stay and work in the UK, but with poor English and no benefits, H became a volunteer here. A great lad, he gained experience on the vans (the driver's mate) and in the shop. His English (and map reading!) improved swiftly and he was able to kit out his family's new home. After five months he got a job as a baggage handler at Manchester Airport with a shining reference from us. He still pops in from time to time to say hello.
We help numerous other clients who may come to us from women's refuges, hospitals, social services, CAB's, RSL's and many from other voluntary organisations.
