Cheshire Furniture Re-use Forum |
Welcome to the Cheshire Furniture Re-use Forum's home page.
The Forum is made up of 14 projects that work with their local authority to collect quality furniture throughout Cheshire and donate or sell it at low cost.
The projects:
- support people on their own and families when they need it most, helping people to set up home or access furniture they can't afford.
- help the environment by stopping lots of good quality furniture ending up on landfill sites.
- provide training and volunteer opportunities which can help people find a job.
The projects are professionally organised with 28 paid and 197 voluntary staff. Several provide training and work opportunities with 23 people receiving this support.
In 2006 - 7 the projects:
- Re-used 661 tonnes of furniture, the equivalent of 30,045 single mattresses.
- Helped 31,995 people.
- The average wait for collection was 7 days.
- The average wait for delivery was 4 days.

All of the Furniture Re-use Projects have volunteers working for them and they play a vital part in their work. If you are interested in volunteering yourself, the projects can offer you the chance to do something practical and useful, to be part of a team, training, a path to help you into further education and employment (if that’s what you want), etc. If you want to find out more, please contact a project near you. |
